FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator do I use to work out the margin on a gold trade?

Use the margin calculator. It takes your lot size, the XAU/USD price and the leverage cap and returns the cash the broker holds while the trade is open. As a reference, at 1:200 a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50 margin. Remember that margin is not your risk; it is only the deposit lock.

How do I know what one pip is worth on my gold position?

Use the pip value calculator. For gold, one pip is 0.01 of price and one standard lot is 100 oz, so the value scales directly with your lot size. Enter the lot size and the tool shows the dollar amount each pip move is worth, which you need before you set a stop distance.

What is the difference between the position size and profit calculators?

The position size calculator works backwards from the money you are willing to lose and your stop distance to give a lot size. The profit calculator works forwards from an entry, an exit and a lot size to show the result. Use position size before the trade and profit after, or to test an idea on paper.

Can the pivot points tool help me plan gold entries in naira terms?

The pivot points tool gives price levels from the prior session's high, low and close, which many traders use as reference for entries and stops. It works in XAU/USD dollars, so convert any naira risk figure at your own rate first. It shows levels, not directions, and gold can ignore them.

Do these calculators place trades or connect to my broker account?

No. Every tool on this page is a standalone calculator; nothing connects to a broker, an account or a live feed beyond the reference price. You type the numbers yourself and read the output. That means the result is only as good as your inputs, especially lot size, leverage and the price you enter.
